Sundays In Bed With Family Time and The Stand

Welcome to our Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

We’re done trying to make this a blog hop, but still feel free to participate!  Maybe someday we’ll try to make it happen as a blog hop again, but right now we feel like Gretchen trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.

This morning Kim is reading:

Kate here, in for Kim:  I suppose it's possible Kim is doing some reading, but I bet it's kid's books because she's spending some extra time with her family and her two adorable nieces.  She doesn't get to see them as often as she'd like, so she's in Favorite Aunt paradise right now.  Have fun, Kim, and just remember to come back!

This morning Kate is reading:

I will actually be working today, and I'm going in early in order to work on shipping books.  James Murray from Impractical Jokers came by our store the other day to promote his book, Awakened (it's sci-fi/horror), and signed a bunch of pre-orders, so now we get to send them off to their rightful owners.  We might be a tiny, independent bookstore, but we do a lot of shipping thanks to authors like this (and our queen, Maggie Stiefvater, although usually when she comes out with a new book we have to rent a storage unit to work out of, which is awesome).

But I hope to listen to a bit more of The Stand.  It's one of my favorite King books and I've read it many, many times.  I think I even listened to it on cd once, back in the days of Napster... but it's 42 hours long and it was so many cds.  I'm doing it for Litsy's Stephen King read-a-long, in which we're read every single one of King's books in order (although I skipped The Shining last month bc despite my love of the sequel, Doctor Sleep, The Shining just doesn't do much for me).

I'm still in the early parts- the opening scene where Campion tries to flee with his family from CA, the scene where we meet quiet hero Stu in Texas, and now I'm in Maine where Frannie is meeting her college boyfriend, Jess, and is about to give him some news.

So hopefully I get to listen a little more today!
