Sundays In Bed With Curse of the Blue Tattoo and Hocus Pocus

Welcome to our Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

We’re done trying to make this a blog hop, but still feel free to participate!  Maybe someday we’ll try to make it happen as a blog hop again, but right now we feel like Gretchen trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.

This morning Kim is reading:

Kate here: Kim is officially off for summer break!!

Yay, Kim!  You survived!!

Now you'll have more time for reading!

Right now Kim is reading Curse of the Blue Tattoo for our book club that's meeting later this month.  Book club member Sarah picked it, and it's the 2nd book in the series, so that's causing some panic for some of our members that have to read series in order.  Like Kim.

I've gotten less rigid about that as I've gotten older (and after occasionally reading out of order accidentally), but I've already read the first book in this series, so I'm golden.

Kim was a little stressed about the prospect of skipping book 1, but it looks like she went straight to book 2!

(It's entirely possible that Sarah is conducting some kind of social experiment on our group to see how many of us crack)

Hopefully Kim gets all the rest, relaxation and reading she can handle today!

This morning Kate is reading:

Amok, amok, amok!!!

This book comes out on July 10th, but I spotted the arc at the store and I grabbed it faster than a virgin can light the black flame candle!  This is 2 books in 1- the first is pretty much the movie (more fleshed out) and then the sequel features Max and Allison's daughter.

I started it last night, but didn't get very far because I was exhausted (in a good way, because the bookstore was busy yesterday and summertime can be rough on bookstores).

Plus, there was a bird in the store for a couple of hours yesterday.

His name is Tom, because he flew into the picture board of Tom Wolfe, which is right behind the counter.  Poor Tom was a bit stunned and I was worried he was injured.  I tried calling Wildlife, but no one answered.  So I turned toward the internet for help, which suggested turning off all the lights so that Tom would fly toward the open door.

But for more than an hour, Tom seemed content to sit right behind me and made no attempts to fly away.  Because he was right behind the register, I was barely a foot away at any time.  He was a hit with the customers, but no one would take him home.

Finally, Tom flew... but it took him another hour to finally get out the door.  He chilled in the Children's section, and then by our windows, and finally he landed in our Richmond/Virginia section.  While there, I had a mini rush in the store, so there were lots of customers, so Tom finally took off and out the door.  Everyone was very happy for him.

Bye, Tom!

It was definitely an adventure!

So today is Sunday, and I hope to read some Hocus Pocus, but I have a staff meeting at the bookstore to attend, and then I'm going to see U2 in DC!

But, I have Monday off (thankfully) and I'm stating for the record that I plan on writing some BOOK REVIEWS.

I know it's shocking, sit with that for a moment.

I would like to write enough reviews this summer to post at least 3 a week.  Even if they're mostly Short and Tweet reviews.  But we shall see!

Have a great Sunday, reader(s)!
