It's Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon time!!!

Kim and I will be posting here throughout the day.

Kate's Opening Getting To Know You Survey:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Richmond, Virginia!
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm equally excited by all of them, but Six Wakes sounds likes a lot of fun.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
My Boom Chicka Pop Cinnamon Roll Drizzle popcorn.  It tastes like the Night Circus!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I work at a small independent bookstore that's celebrating it's 40 year next month and I run 3 book clubs and participate in a 4th one.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
The last few years, participating in Readathon has been tough.  I purposely took the weekend off this time so that I could really concentrate on the event.  I can't wait to do some Twitter cheering.
Kim's Opening Getting To Know You Survey:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Richmond, Virginia!
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I didn't make a stack because they never really work out for me.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I stopped at Wegmens and picked up a treat at the bakery, it's a caramel cookie brownie thing and it's to die for. Best part is because of how sweet it is I'll be taking a bite here and there all day long!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm a high school math teacher. I love my job, even though some days are tough.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I can't remember the last time I participated in readathon. It's been years. Timing wise April and October don't always work for me. Truthfully I should be grading right now, but I know if I don't take some time for myself my head will explode and it just happened that this was also readathon weekend.

Kate's Closing Survey

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?

The first hour is always my most daunting!  I want to do ALL the things ALL at once, which of course is impossible.  I rarely get any reading done until the second hour because I'm too busy looking at social media.

2. Tell us ALLLLL the books you read!

Out of these, I finished In the House in the Dark of the Woods and The Disasters and Six Wakes.  I listened to a couple of hours of Needful Things, read a bit Ride On to refresh my memory for today's book club, and listened to an hour and a half of Emily Goes to Exeter as I snuggled into bed last night.

3. Which books would you recommend to other Read-a-thoners?

I really liked all the books I read.  I totally recommend all of them!

4. What’s a really rad thing we could do during the next Read-a-thon that would make you happy?

Sigh, I miss the days of Cheerleaders.  Not because I need the cheering on my own blog, but I loved cheering and even got to be Team Captain a few times.  I know it's just not feasible any more (so many participants on soooooo many platforms and so few cheerleaders to cheer), but I wouldn't mind doing an all Twitter Cheerleading event... if that was possible.

5. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? Would you be interested in volunteering to help organize and prep?

I've been doing readathons for about 9 years now, so YES, I will participate again.  I'd love to help in any way I can.
